Alan Markovitz
As former Chairman of the Education and Training Committee of the Massachusetts Burglar & Fire Alarm Association, Alan's efforts resulted in the creation of a statewide technical newsletter, the monthly Installer and Serviceman's Workshop, crash courses for the State's Alarm Licensing Law, and he was one of the authors of their Mass. 15-Hour Mandatory Continuing Education Code Review Course. He also has been a Registered Provider for the Commonwealth of Mass for another version of that course. Alan is also a member of the New Hampshire Alarm Association.
Mr. Markovitz has been a National Education Committee member and Certified Regional Instructor for the National Training School of the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association, as well as the former Mass. State Training Coordinator. He was also the first Massachusetts candidate to receive the designation of Advanced Alarm Technician from the National Training School of the NBFAA, and is a proud holder of the Stan Wescott Memorial Award.
His formal education includes a degree from Boston University College of Engineering and graduate work at Tufts. Alan is Past Master of his Masonic Lodge, the 6th District Lodge of Instruction, a member of Aleppo Temple Shriners, and Past President of his community theater group in Lynnfield. He is a registered hypnotist and magician and has his own orchestra. He is also President of Top Secret Security & Communications in Boston, and holds the following State licenses: Comm. Of Mass. System Contractor and Technician, and Mass. Public Safety License.
David H. McKinnon
David attended Aurora College and is presently studying for MSCE certification. He is a Certified Instructor for the Board of Examiners of Electricians of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He holds electrical licenses in both Massachusetts, and Vermont for the installation of Burglary, Fire Alarm Systems, Access Control, and Closed Circuit TV.
He has taught MCE courses for the Top Secret Security, and the Massachusetts Burglar and Fire Alarm Association. David enjoys playing soccer and alpine skiing. He has coached at the high school level. For seventeen years he taught alpine skiing. Mr. McKinnon derives a great deal of pleasure from fly fishing on the Deerfield River. He has considerable expertise in network administration, including NT domains and NetWare systems that have been included in his studies and required on the job.
He has been responsible for phone support and on-site troubleshooting requiring working with end users, to diagnose and resolve a wide variety of technical problems, and webmaster for numerous websites. Involving heavy HTML coding, CGI script, Java script, and mastering web-specific graphic design issues.
David's formal education includes Computer Science, programming in Cobol, Fortran, Basic, Basic Plus, and Machine Language. His work experience includes successfully running a small alarm and network company (New England Security Company) with LAN network installation and configuration, administration and migration of PCs with file servers as well as peer to peer networks.
David lives in Vermont with his wife Rosie and their sons Clark and Davis.
He holds the following Massachusetts licenses: Comm. Of Mass. System Contractor and Technician, and Mass. Public Safety License.
